The Head of the Occoquan Course Map Overview

The Head of the Occoquan course is considered one of the most challenging courses in the country. Its many turns ensures that crews and athletes that understand the course and the rules cut significant amount of time from their result. We strongly recommend that all athletes review the following information below. Here a few of the many changes for this year:

  • New launching and return docks that will allow crews to speed up the time it takes to get crews on and off the water.
  • The Finish line will once again end right in front of Sandy Run Regional Park(On the Prince William Side of the River).
  • A Marshall Controlled Crossing Point has been created to allow crews to safely finish in front of the park and to limit to amount of confusion getting off and on the water.
  • Crews warming up river will no longer be allowed to hug the buoys lines heading up the river but instead will be asked to stay close to their side of the river.

I UNDERSTAND THESE NEW RULES AND UNDERSTAND THAT THE 2007 HEAD OF THE OCCOQUAN COURSE HAS BEEN SLIGHTLY ALTERED TO ALLOW FOR MORE CREWS. PLEASE SEE THIS CHANGE BY CLICKING HERE FOR A VIEW OF THIS YEAR'S MAP
