The Head of the Occoquan Course Map Overview

The Head of the Occoquan course is considered one of the most challenging courses in the country. Its many turns ensures that crews and athletes that understand the course and the rules cut significant amount of time from their result. We strongly recommend that all athletes review the following information below. Here a few of the many changes for this year:

  • The Finish line has been MOVED to the MIDDLE OF THE GRANDSTAND for the 2000M SPRINT Racing Course(about 600 meters away from Sandy Run Launching Area)
  • The STARTING LINE has been moved closed to JACOBS ROCK(about 500 meters from Jacobs Rock)
  • Crews will NOT be required to cross over the course. All warm-ups will be completed on the FAIRFAX Side and all RACING will be done on the PRINCE WILLIAM Side of the River(Prince William is the on the opposite side of the Sandy Run Regional Park).

I UNDERSTAND THESE NEW RULES AND UNDERSTAND THAT THE 2008 HEAD OF THE OCCOQUAN COURSE HAS BEEN SLIGHTLY ALTERED TO ALLOW FOR MORE CREWS. PLEASE SEE THIS CHANGE BY CLICKING HERE FOR A VIEW OF THIS YEAR'S MAP
